  • The ARTFL Reference Collection: online dictionaries available to the public include a new computerized version of the Trésor de la Langue Française, the first (1694) and various subsequent editions of the Dictionnaire de l'Académie Française, and the 1911 edition of Roget's Thesaurus

  • Jefferson in the Oxford English Dictionary (a subsection of the University of Virginia's Thomas Jefferson Digital Archive): 'A summary of Jefferson's influence on the English language, according to his presence in entries in the OED 2nd. edition'
  • Lexicons of Early Modern English (LEME), edited by Ian Lancashire. Searches and displays entries from over 150 monolingual, bilingual, and polyglot dictionaries and glossaries (in which either source or target language is English), as well as linguistic treatises, and encyclopedic or topical works, published 1480-1702
  • Maritime History Citations for the OED, website by Alan Hartley which publishes antedatings and additions to OED evidence on maritime vocabulary, found in specialised sources dating from the medieval period up to 1831
  • Michigan Early Modern English Materials: online database of citations collected for the modal verbs and certain other English words for the Early Modern English Dictionary, prepared using many of the slips assembled during the construction of OED1
  • OED Online: much open-access material (including facsimiles of documents relating to history of OED plus news-letter archive on progress of the third revision). The Dictionary itself can be accessed free at Public Libraries and many other institutions in the UK, otherwise through institutional or individual subscription
  • Webster's 1828 Dictionary of American English (a service provided by Christian Technologies, Inc.). Note that, except in the case of references to the Bible, this electronic version does not reproduce the source of the quotations cited, thus diverging from the original text which gives the author's name (though not the relevant text)
